Systemic Barriers of Inpatient Pain Management for the Elderly

The investigator hypothesizes that systemic barriers exist that hinder quality pain management for elderly general medical inpatients. The specific aim is to use a qualitative approach to identify such barriers in a large urban teaching hospital. This study will lead to the design and implementation of a multi-faceted intervention targeted to these barriers to improve the quality of inpatient pain management at this institution.
